Halloween is only less than 3 days away!!!
So I pretty much recreated the look that I wore for Halloween 2 years back, the classic slit throat ;)
Not your typical Power of Makeup but definitely the Power of Makeup nonetheless.
How excited for Halloween am I? On a scale of 1 to 10, 11!
Halloween is the one time a year when you can be ANYTHING you want and no one will throw judgement your way. This sounds the perfect time to insert the Mean Girl's quote 'Halloween is the one day a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything else about it' hehe
Gonna save more about my makeup thoughts for my part 3 post that's going to be my final and main post for this Power of Makeup series.
What do you think of my Fall Inspired Makeup look?
I love it, for sure.
But thinking about it, I don't know how comfortable I would be wearing this look out in Singapore and that's coming from me. Me! With all sorts of hair colours and outfits.
Why?
Well that's simple. How would you react to seeing me with blonde hair and this makeup look in real life on the streets?
What is Makeup to me?
Inspired by NikkieTutorials, I don't think anyone should feel ashamed of loving and wearing Makeup.
I love Makeup.
I love myself with Makeup.
I love myself without Makeup.
My sister loves Makeup too.
And she has a beauty blog.
Go check her out
But back to me...
Right now, at this very moment, I wear makeup probably 5 times a week at the very minimum.
Note that when I say makeup, I'm not referring to full on glam makeup like I did in this post but my basic necessities which is the shaping and filling of my brows to eyeliner and lipstick. Additional to my basic necessities, there is eyelash curling and mascara applying and of course, bb cream and concealer. That's pretty much my everyday makeup routine.
I wear makeup when I want to look more put together or for a confidence boost or to look fiercer so people will take me more seriously.
But don't get me wrong, I still love myself bare faced as much as I do with makeup on.
This is me with absolutely nothing on, not even circle lenses and without any filtering. I adjusted the exposure and touched up the warmth but that's it. No pretty faded filter like the other pictures here hahaha
I would be lying if I said that it was easy getting myself to accept and love myself.
It's true. Some people rely heavily on makeup for self confidence. Is there anything wrong with that? No. Sure, its important to love yourself but here's a short summary of how I got to that stage. I lived off my makeup kit and don't fight me on this, you do get treated better when you have makeup on. I wore makeup every single day at one point. Makeup gave me confidence. It still does. I started to build up my self confidence and self esteem and slowly, started cutting down the amount of makeup I used.
If I didn't have makeup.... I wouldn't have the confidence that I built up and now have.
If there was a way to instantly love yourself and be confident of yourself just the way you are, tell me about it because that would be real awesome.
I'm planning to do 3 parts to my Power of Makeup post series (Is that what its called?)
But oh wells, here's part 1 ;)
And here is NikkieTutorial's original video that started the Power of Makeup
And just to put em out there, here are a few other 'Power of Makeup' makeup appreciation videos I've just been loving
Also, if you noticed the Fake Septum I was wearing...
It'll be launching in Shop VEXED real soon!
So stay tuned for updates here and at IG@ShopVEXED
I love makeup. I love the application process (when I'm not late or rushing) but I definite hate removing my makeup at night and gosh, don't even let me begin to talk about what happens when you don't properly remove your makeup.... Apart from clogged pores and break outs, your skin will age and trust me, it ain't pretty.
If you realized, this bottle that I have in my hands is Biore's 2nd version of their Aqua Jelly Remover.
I definitely like their new formula so much more compared to their previous one.
Their new formula has a smoother texture which definitely feels more gentle and also rinses off much more easily and faster. It's cleansing abilities is as powerful as any oil makeup remover but without the thick disgusting texture that many of which has.
If you know me at all, I love Halloween because I love doing SFX Makeup and I usually use Olive Oil to remove my Makeup whenever I go into that territory simply because it's able to really dissolve every trace of makeup on my face. Which the Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover does too but is 10 times less messy. It's also made with 40% more moisturizing essence than it's last version to hydrate your skin better. Plus, it's really lightweight, unlike thick olive oil which will leave your skin feeling refreshed without a sticky after feel. Not forgetting to mention as well, this remover is suitable for all skin types!!!
So a cool thing about this remover is that you can actually just use your hands. Pump once twice or thrice onto your clean hands and just spread and massage over your face and eyes to dissolve the makeup you have on. After which, just rinse it off and continue on with your night time routine.
I personally still prefer using a cotton pad though and it's simply because using a cotton pad allows you to see the makeup coming off and I think that's good to observe how much makeup you've removed and to know clearly when there's no more makeup left.
The makeup remover that's in my usual skincare routine is the Bioderma Micellar Cleansing Water, which I love. However, it can be rather pricey and also, it's definitely a much lighter remover as compared to the Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover. Instead of using 2 pads of Aqua Jelly in the gif above, I'll probably use maybe 4 pads of Cleansing Water.
In conclusion, I won't be using my Biore Aqua Jelly every single day but it is definitely my new favorite heavy makeup remover. I love it's cleansing power and hydrating abilities to pamper my skin after throwing on all that foundation, contour and highlights in the day. The only thing I don't like about it is how if I pump too much, the excess stings my eyes and it hurts. But apart from that, thumbs up for sure :)
You can get one of these at just $24.90(230ml) from any supermarket, western pharmacy, departmental
store or beauty store
Alright, so if you know anything about me at all, it's that I love rocking wild hair colours. Which sadly requires taking a massive load of damage to my hair from constant bleaching. I rely heavily on hair care products and DIY masks to keep my hair healthy on top of regular trims. Which includes of course, Hair Oils and Milk. I was excited(as I always am) to get to try out these Essential products, I guess you can pretty much call me a fangal of their hair care products.
Essential is a popular haircare brand from Japan. Understanding the needs of Asian and Singaporean girls and their hair woes, Essential has created a wide range of products to help repair and care for hair. They offer products ranging from basic hair care needs such as Shampoo & Conditioner to more intensive treatments like Hair Masks and Leave On Treatments.
This September, Essential has relaunched its Leave On Treatment range with 2 brand new products,

The Essential Night Care Milk and CC Oil
The Essential CC Oil
The ‘CC’ in the new Essential CC Oil stands for Cuticle Care and just like BB/CC Cream, it is basically an oil with a multiple number of effects. While BB/CC Cream is able to moisturize, cover blemishes, brighten skin and etc, CC Oil is able to protect your hair from 5 hair stresses
Basically the CC Oil forms a protective coat around each hair strand and protects your hair from the 5 hair stresses, leaving you with more manageable hair.
So what are these 5 Hair Stresses?
Well, they are external environmental factors and your own personal habits that contributes to stresses to your hair.
Well, they are external environmental factors and your own personal habits that contributes to stresses to your hair.
1. Blow drying: Heat damage/friction from blow drying .The process removes moisture from the hair, both outside
and inside each strand
2. Combing: Friction to the hair cuticles due to daily combing. Combing through wet hair causes great hair damage as the hair follicle is at
its most fragile state. Likewise, the friction caused by coming through dry hair
can form hair knots which makes hair prone to unnecessary breakage
3. Split Ends: Fraying of hair shaft due to dry and brittle hair. The ends of your hair are the oldest and driest parts. When the protective hair
cuticle is destroyed at the end of the hair, the hair splits into two or more
parts.
4. Hair styling and habits: Besides daily heat styling and blow drying, other seemingly
harmless actions like tying your hair into a tight ponytail or twirling your hair
with your fingers exert excessive stress on your hair
5. Dryness: Dry hair that feels rough. Exposure to the sun, wind or even air-conditioning can result in hair dryness.
The hair cuticle that protects the hair is weakened and is unable to retain
moisture within the cuticles of the hair

I use this everyday (that I remember to hahaha) just pump once or twice, spread them between both hands and run them through the bottom half of your hair. I usually apply them ear length down.
The Essential Night Care Milk Protects your hair from pillow friction by leaving a protective coat around each hair strand which prevents misaligned cuticles when your hair rubs against your pillow which leaves hair more manageable the next morning.
Pillow Friction occurs when you toss and turn at night as there is friction between your hair and the pillow,
causing the cuticles to be misaligned. Misaligned cuticles then creates frizz, resulting in your sexy(or horrific) bed head the next morning. Washing your hair eventually ‘resets’ your mane, which is why some ladies have no choice but to
wash and blow dry their hair the next morning. That basically takes up like 30 minutes in the morning alone, 20 minutes to shower and 10 minutes to blow dry and wait how about time to pick an outfit and put on some make up?!!?!
Apply a pump or 2 or 3 or 4 depending on how much your hair requires at night before heading to bed and viola! Trust me, your mornings are going to feel much less dreadful.
I also especially love its smell and form. It will not feel oily while you are trying to fall asleep and I think it's essential that a night time hair mask smells good (see what I did there)
HAHAHA OK EXCUSE MY LAME JOKE SORRY THANK YOU
You can grab one of these Night Care Milks at $11.90 (100ml)
These 2 products are definitely going to be a part of my hair care routine for a long time to come because for their affordable price of just $11.90 each, I can't find a reason not to love em.
